MÁVAR, STAÐIR, HLUTIR
Director
Mávar, staðir, hlutir (e. Seagulls, places, things) is a half scripted-half devised piece using material from both Chekov’s play The Seagull and Duncan Macmillan’s People, Places, Things.
The piece follows Emma, the rising star actress, from the highlights of the stage to the darkness of the rock bottom. The piece asks questions about the self, the staging of it, the living of it, the reality of it. Mávar, staðir, hlutir examines character, narrative and metaphors, and the theatre that daily life itself has become. The piece constantly plays with reality and illusion; what is staged and what is real? Which character is she playing now? Is that the actress speaking or is it the character? What is a part of the play, and what is a part of reality? What is it that distinguishes reality from illusion? What is really real? What is real really?
The piece was Annalísa’s project in a Director’s course in IUA.
Actors: Björk Guðmundsdóttir, Almar Blær Sigurjónsson and Urður Bergsdóttir.
